The Sapporo Art Park is located in the southern outskirts of Sapporo. It is a quite large area consisting of various sections where nearly everyone can find something of interest. Near the entrance, there are various craft studios, where you can see glass-blowing, production of ceramics and a wood craft studio. Here, you can also find the Museum of Contemporary Art. But since the weather was nice, I headed straight to the Sculpture Garden area. 
At the entrance you get a leaflet with information and background of the objects on display. In efficient Japanese fashion, every object is numbered so it is easy to know what you are seeing. While most sculptures are Japanese, the translation of their titles often results in long sentences. What makes this park so interesting, according to me, is the integration into nature of the sculptures. Their symbolism is often fulfilled because of the nature in which they are displayed.
Thus, although many different styles are represented, the art park is a fine collection of some eighty pieces of art. Every object has its own spot, and although there are no rooms of course, it feels like every sculpture really appears to its full advantage. On one side of the park, you can find the Way to the Hidden Garden which is probably the most integrated art work of the park. Overall, the general conclusion of the park must be that nature is artistic.
