While many of Madaba's mosaics are on display direclty in the church where they were found, Madaba's Archaelogical Park has some mosaics on display which were found in the surrounding areas of the town. There are, however, also mosaics which are found right on the spot, and are still being excavated or restored.
In the Hippolytus Hall, you can see classical Greek mythical figures like Phaedra, Afrodite, Adonis, Eros, and others, all in incredibly colourful mosaics. Walking a little further and up the stairs, you can marvel at the Church of the Virgin mosaic. This church was constructed on top of a Roman temple and a Byzantine mansion, mosaics of which times can still be seen in one part. 
I was so drawn to the hall in which these mosaics were on display that went back and forth several times. Getting out into the sun took me directly to the remains of the Roman street, made up of huge stones and columns on either sides. There are a few lesser mosaics on display on the other side of the street, and at the end of the street is the Mosaic School which is actively involved in restoring Madaba's mosaics.
